On April 19, the Coalition for Fair Trade in Ceramic Tile (FTCT) filed a petition for the imposition of antidumping and countervailing duties on U.S. imports of ceramic tile from India.
Merchandise covered by the order includes ceramic flooring and wall tile, paving tile, hearth tile, porcelain tile, mosaic tile, flags and finishing tile. The petition states “all ceramic tile is subject to the scope regardless of end use” and includes ceramic tile with decorative features as well as slabs and panels.
Also covered is any ceramic tile that undergoes minor processing either prior to or after importation into the U.S. This processing includes beveling, cutting, trimming, staining, painting, polishing, finishing, additional firing, and/or affixing a decorative surface to the tile.
