The National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA) has announced Martin Brookes of Fireclay Tile as the 2025 recipient of the prestigious NTCA Ring of Honor Award, recognizing his decades of leadership and dedication to elevating the tile industry.
Brookes, the former owner of Heritage Marble and Tile and current leader of the installation team at Fireclay Tile, has been a respected member of the NTCA for two decades. He joined the association in 2005 and later served as regional director, executive committee member, and NTCA president from 2021 to 2023. Throughout his service, Brookes has exemplified professionalism, mentorship and passion for advancing installation excellence.

Originally from Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England, Brookes began his career after earning a City and Guilds Diploma for Masonry from Chesterfield College in 1982. He immigrated to the U.S. in his 30s, bringing his strong technical foundation and entrepreneurial spirit to California, where he established Heritage Marble and Tile.
Under Brookesโ leadership, Heritage earned numerous accolades for installation excellence, including Coverings Installation and Design (CID) Awards and the NTCA Five-Star Contractor Residential Installation of the Year Award. His company also participated in the Installation Showcase projects at Coverings, highlighting his commitment to quality craftsmanship and innovation.
Beyond his business achievements, Brookes has served as an industry consultant and recognized expert for the California State License Board, advising on the stateโs tile standards and best practices. He chaired the NTCA Methods and Standards Committee and remains an active participant in ANSI, TCNA, and NTCA Technical Committees. His work has helped shape standards and guidance that continue to benefit contractors nationwide.
A passionate advocate for education, Brookes frequently shares his knowledge with designers, builders and architects through workshops and presentations. He is recognized as an NTCA ambassador and a respected voice within the Bay Area design and construction community. Over the years, he has received several honors for his service and dedication, including the NTCA Best Practice Award in 2014 for expanding membership and promoting professionalism among tile contractors on the West Coast, and the 2020 NTCA Tile Person of the Year Award.
As the newest member of NTCAโs Ring of Honor, Brookes joins a distinguished group of industry leaders who have made enduring contributions to the association and the tile trade.
