Floor Installation Association of North America (FIANA) members have voted to dissolve the association no later than year end 2014.
According to the association, “The group cited accomplishment of its primary mission ‘…to legitimize, enhance and improve the overall image and professionalism of the floor covering installation segment of the industry,’ as distributors and manufacturers of installation supplies products. FIANA members conclude 20 years of solid effort and focus resulting in a far more cohesive and respected channel of supply.”
FIANA further added, “Over the years, a once fractured and misunderstood group of smaller, niched supply distributors have grown into larger multi-faceted companies very capable of continuing emphasis on the importance and vitality of supplies portion of the flooring business.”
“This is a very appropriate move at the right time,” said Doug Ray, President and CEO. “Our board has made a courageous recommendation and membership overwhelmingly concurs. Much has changed in these past 20 years. The Association is currently in a strong position yet understands the need to not rest on laurels but to look forward to the new challenges of the industry.”
FIANA members thank its original founders as well as past presidents Jim Lee and Gary Verhey for their foresight and direction. “We’re honored to be the recipients and achievers of their vision,” said Ray. “I am certain you will see our member companies continuing their strong support for all businesses and groups associated with giving the best possible results to the flooring consumer.”
