The National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA) has scheduled 17 free workshops and eight regional programs in February to help installers, tile setters and contractors expand their knowledge and polish their skills.
NTCA’s regional trainings are day-long, immersive programs designed to give installers practical experience with the latest tools, materials and techniques in accordance with ANSI standards and the TCNA Handbook for Ceramic, Glass and Stone Tile Installation methods. This month’s topics are Substrate Preparation and Tile Industry Standards for Installation of Large Format Tile (LFT) and Interior Installation of Gauged Porcelain Tile Panels/Slabs (GPTP/S).
A class on substrate preparation will be offered 2/19 at Floor & Décor in El Paso, Texas. Sessions on gauged porcelain tile panels and slabs will be offered 2/5 at Daltile in Atlanta, 2/26 at Best Tile of N.C. in Greensboro, and at the following Floor & Décor locations: 2/5 in Cedar Park, Texas; 2/12 in Conyers, Ga., and Live Oak, Texas; 2/17 in Charlotte and 2/26 in Phoenix.
NTCA workshops are designed to help professionals stay current with industry standards, techniques and product innovations. Presented in a hands-on format, each free, three-hour session combines live demonstrations, small-group interaction and catered networking time. Workshops this February include these topics:
- Tile Matters: Best Practices for the Pros
- Failures—Could It Be Me?
- Ins and Outs of Layout
- Tile Technology: Membranes
- Tile Technology: Adhesives
- Foundations of Wet Areas
Tile Matters will be held at the following Floor & Décor locations: 2/9 in Miami Gardens, Fla., and 2/11 in Orlando; and 2/17 at Daltile in Wilmington, N.C. Workshops on failures will be held at the following Floor & Décor locations: 2/10 in Georgetown, Texas, and 2/12 in Parkville, Md.; as well as 2/18 at Arizona Tile in Roseville, Calif. Membranes workshops will be held 2/10 at Floor & Décor in West Palm Beach, Fla.; 2/12 at Daltile in Seminole, Fla.; and 2/19 at The Tile Shop in Dunwoody, Ga.
Workshops on adhesives will be held at the following Daltile locations: 2/10 in Virginia Beach; 2/11 in Dulles, Va.; 2/17 in Redding, Calif.; and 2/19 in Los Angeles. A layout workshop will be held 2/19 at Floor & Décor in San Leandro, Calif. Foundations of Wet Areas will be held at the following Daltile locations; 2/17 in Tempe, Ariz., and 2/24 in Pittsburgh; and 2/18 at Emser Tile in San Diego.
