Private equity firm Rainier Partners and its portfolio company SCI Flooring have acquired Flooring Partners, a move which “solidifies the company’s position as a leading flooring provider in the Midwest and expands operations to the East Coast,” the company said.
Founded in 1990 and employee-owned since 2021, Baltimore-based Flooring Partners specializes in the sale and installation of flooring to multi-family, commercial and retail clients. The company services markets across Maryland, the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey and—through the recent acquisition of Flooring Edge—Ohio.
“From the outset of our conversations, we felt Flooring Partners would be a great fit with SCI from both a cultural and operational standpoint,” said Flooring Partners CEO Bob Nichols. “As we’ve spent more time with [SCI CEO] Dave Elberson and his team, that conviction has only strengthened. We are excited about what’s ahead.”
Based in Detroit, SCI is a leading floor covering services provider to multi-family, commercial and single-family property managers and builders throughout the Midwest. Adding Flooring Partners bolsters the platform’s exposure to the multi-family tenant turnover market while providing opportunities to grow in new regions, the company said.
