Mannington Mills Exiting Residential Carpet Business

Mannington Mills said it is transitioning out of the residential carpet business and will turn its focus toward its residential hard surface offerings, commercial hard and soft surface products and Amtico International business.

The move will result in a reduced workforce and the closing of Phenix Flooring in Dalton Ga., Pharr Fibers and Yarns in McAdenville, N.C., and Georgia Carpet Finishers in Chatsworth, Ga., by the first quarter of 2026. According to the company, โ€œMannington plans to transition portions of its North Carolina yarn processing operations and Chatsworth finishing operations to the Calhoun, Ga., campus and will focus on filling open roles there with impacted associates.โ€

Tom Pendley, Mannington president and CEO, stated: โ€œThe departure of Invista and the Stainmaster brand from the carpet fibers business, and the continued consumer shift to resilient flooring, has forced us to reevaluate residential carpet in our portfolio. This has led us to make the difficult decision to exit residential carpet.

โ€œWe are grateful to our associates and our customers for their loyalty. While we are confident this decision is in the best interest of Mannington Millsโ€™ long-term future, it is an extremely hard one, as we understand the impact it has on our people.โ€

The 110-year-old company entered the residential carpet segment in 2020 with the acquisition of Phenix Flooring and Pharr Fibers and Yarns. In 2022 it added Georgia Carpet Finishers to its portfolio.

Mannington will continue to run operations at its Calhoun and Madison, Ga; Salem, N.J.; Eustis, Fla.; and Amtico International locations.
