The Floor Covering Industry Foundation (FCIF) is running their year-end campaign with hopes of raising additional funds for families in the floor covering industry who are experiencing life-altering illnesses, catastrophic injuries or other severe medical disabilities. One of the families who has recently been impacted by a grant from FCIF is Kathy and Johnny.
Kathy—who was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer and stage 4 liver cancer—has worked in the industry for 17 years as a warper operator, creeler and material handler. With this life-altering medical diagnosis, she and her husband Johnny were faced with a new financial reality. They did not know how they were going to pay for their household expenses, much less Kathy’s accumulating medical bills.
FCIF was able to help Kathy and Johnny by providing a financial assistance grant. Kathy shared, “This grant has blessed my life beyond measure. It kept me from losing my home and helped me pay for my medical treatments. I cannot thank FCIF enough.” Kathy is now in remission, and receives an immunotherapy drug every six weeks to help keep her healthy.
Financial assistance grants are awarded based on need for expenses such as medical care, medications, medical supplies and other necessities including food, shelter and utilities.
