L. Fishman & Son, the holding company of distributor Fishman Flooring Solutions, has purchased WJ Grosvenor, a major distributor of flooring supplies, tools and accessories in the Northeast. The transaction brings together two of the oldest flooring distribution firms in the U.S.—Fishman celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2019 and Grosvenor began doing business in 1910. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
“Purchasing outstanding distribution firms in the flooring space has been part of Fishman’s strategic plan for many years,” said Bob Wagner, chairman and CEO of L. Fishman & Son. “Over the past several years, we have considered several acquisitions, but they were not the right match for our business and our culture. WJ Grosvenor, however, with its outstanding team of experienced employees in the flooring marketplace, is a terrific fit with our business and we are eager to join forces to win in the marketplace beginning immediately.”
Flooring contractors in the New England area will now have access to new flooring and flooring installation products distributed by Fishman, in addition to those distributed by Grosvenor, effective immediately. This includes Fishman’s Landmark Interiors line of finished flooring products including engineered hardwood, luxury vinyl tile and plank, water-resistant laminate, and sports and multifunctional flooring.
According to Fishman, WJ Grosvenor will continue operating under its current name for the foreseeable future, with “20 of its employees, covering six branches in Massachusetts and a seventh branch in New Hampshire, joining Fishman today.”
