Whitener Named FCEF Exec Dir as Aaron Steps Down

The Floor Covering Education Foundation (FCEF) has named Kaye Whitener, formerly director of operations, as the foundation’s new executive director after announcing that Jim Aaron has stepped down due to cost-cutting measures.

“Jim’s leadership set a powerful foundation for our mission’s success,” said Deb DeGraaf, chair of FCEF’s Board of Directors. “This transition was driven by financial necessity, not performance. Jim’s contributions were instrumental, and we’re confident Kaye will continue advancing our impact with the same passion and dedication.”

Under Aaron’s leadership, FCEF launched an accredited technical college curriculum that expanded to 14 states and secured multiple federal grants—both industry firsts. The foundation noted, “his efforts have created a scalable framework for workforce development that will continue benefiting the industry for years to come.”

Whitener brings years of service and operational expertise to her new leadership role, where she will focus on expanding the foundation’s reach and continue tackling workforce challenges facing the flooring industry.
