FCEF Announces 2026 Board of Directors

The Floor Covering Education Foundation (FCEF) has announced its 2026 Board of Directors, with David Chambers of Nebraska Furniture Mart moving from co-chair to chairman as Deb DeGraaf completes her term. The incoming board brings together leaders from across the flooring industry who share a common focus on building and sustaining a skilled installation workforce, the FCEF said.

โ€œThis board represents the depth, experience and commitment our industry needs right now,โ€ said Kaye Whitener, FCEF executive director. โ€œEach of these leaders understands workforce development requires long-term investment, collaboration and action. Iโ€™m grateful for their willingness to serve and help guide the foundationโ€™s work in the years ahead.โ€

Chambers steps into the chairman role with decades of industry experience and a strong track record of supporting workforce and training initiatives. โ€œI am truly excited to lead the foundation into its next chapter. Together, we will focus on expanding educational programs, strengthening our workforce and creating sustainable career opportunities for the next generation of flooring professionals,โ€ he stated.

FCEF also named the chairs of its key standing committees for 2026. These committees support the foundationโ€™s finances, long-term sustainability and educational mission.

Russell Headrick of Shaw Industries, chair of the finance & investment committee, shared his outlook for the year ahead: โ€œI am excited about the impact FCEF will have in 2026 and the vital role it plays in strengthening the future of the flooring industry. This work not only supports students and installers but also helps ensure the long-term health and success of our industry and the communities it serves.โ€

Randall Sheehe of Emser Tile, chair of the development committee, emphasized the importance of industry investment: โ€œThe future of our industry depends on our willingness to invest in people. FCEF brings the industry together around a shared responsibilityโ€”supporting education and training programs that create real career opportunities and a stronger workforce.โ€

Fred Black of USA Flooring, chair of the education advancement committee, highlighted the importance of quality training. โ€œEducation is the foundation of a skilled workforce. FCEFโ€™s programs help ensure students are not only introduced to the trade but are prepared for long-term success. Iโ€™m proud to support efforts that raise the bar for education across our industry.โ€

New Board Members in 2026

FCEF also welcomed four newly elected members to its board of directors, each bringing a unique perspective and a shared commitment to strengthening the future of the flooring trade.

Dave Nicely of Seamless Flooring spoke to the growing need for skilled labor: โ€œWe make all kinds of new flooring year after yearโ€ฆ but we quit making skilled installers. The FCEF is here for that reason. Iโ€™m honored to help fill this void.โ€

Clay Chapman of Bonitz expressed his enthusiasm for supporting installer education and brings a strong voice for the commercial sector: โ€œI am truly honored for this opportunity to serve on the board of FCEF and help shape the future of the flooring industry through qualified installer educational programs.โ€

Bill Anderson of Karndean emphasized the long-term importance of the foundationโ€™s work: โ€œThe work of FCEF has never been more important. Iโ€™m honored to have a role in fostering professional opportunities that grow the trade and strengthen the long-term health of our industry.โ€

Reid Waxman of Roomvo brings a technology-forward perspective to the board, reflecting the evolving intersection of innovation, design and workforce needs across the flooring industry: โ€œSkilled installers are foundational to the success of our industry, and Iโ€™m proud to join the board in advancing its mission to strengthen the future of flooring through education and workforce development.โ€
