A Letter from the NWFA President & CEO – COVID-19 Resource Update,Virtual Expo Set for April 29 – May 1

NWFA

Dear NWFA Members,

As the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues to evolve and impact our members, the NWFA is working diligently to do three things:

1) Keep our members informed about the impacts on their business and personal lives through a COVID-19 Resource Center on the Hardwood Floors magazine website, hardwoodfloorsmag.com;
2) Keep our members connected to us and each other through new networking options so best practices can be shared. This is taking place with Thought Leader Thursdays, conference calls, and virtual meetings.
3) Keep the business side of NWFA going with our own Expo being cancelled, applying for Small Business Loans, and changing our business model on a daily basis to spend your resources wisely. See NWFA’s Virtual Expo at www.nwfaexpo.com.

The NWFA Member Guide to Coronavirus Economic Relief is a new guide launched today that puts all of the Small Business Administration relief efforts in one place for small NWFA businesses to easily see what they are eligible to apply for, and to further help members navigate the loan and grant processes.

The Guide provides information on 10 different programs with specific links to apply for:

1) Economic Injury Disaster Loans
2) Emergency Economic Injury Grants
3) Paycheck Protection Program Loans
4) A payroll calculator as well as a calculator for the forgivable part of the loan
5) Debt Relief Program
6) Employee Retention Credit Program
7) Tax Filing Extension
8) Counseling & Training
9) Net Operating Losses Reporting
10) And Deferred Social Security Payments

We also have done a daily NWFA Real Answers Podcast with Past Chairman Chris Zizza of C&R Flooring in Boston, as well as with special guests, to help us navigate the changes coming at us every day. We’ve provided a recap of all the information our members need to survive during these challenging times.

This week we provided two webinars to help folks understand the SBA program and we’ve posted more than 10 videos that are designed to help businesses through crisis. Recordings of these are available in the NWFA Online University and in the Hardwood Floors Magazine C-19 Resource Center.

Further, there are links to many more resources from the Federal Government and other providers of information.

We have done our best to digest all of the information and bring you an easy-to-understand way to help your company, your employees, and your peers through the pandemic.

From a networking standpoint, NWFA started hosting Thought Leader Thursday conference calls through its steering committees. NWFA has four steering committees, one for each major member type—Manufacturer, Distributor, Contractor, and Retailer. This allows peer groups to get together once per week and share best practices and tips for keeping and building new business.

From the business side of NWFA, we were forced to cancel the NWFA Wood Flooring Expo scheduled for April in Milwaukee. During the last two weeks, our staff has created a new Virtual Expo that will provide attendees with similar tools to our live event, but with more options to attend all education.

NWFA is excited to host its first-ever Virtual Expo near the time that many of us planned to be in Milwaukee soaking up the live education and a few brews together at the live NWFA Expo.

Tell your friends, tell your employees, and mark your calendar for April 29 – May 1 to participate in a combination of pre-recorded and live sessions, as well as product demos, networking, a keynote kickoff, and a Wood Floor of the Year Awards closing ceremony.

Registration and details are at www.nwfaexpo.com.

Given what the world is going through with Coronavirus, the NWFA will be offering the Virtual Expo at no cost to attend. Our goal is to provide similar networking opportunities between exhibitors and attendees as our live event does, while also opening up the NWFA experience to an entirely new audience of contractors, distributors, manufacturer, designers, and more.

NWFA is committed to be here for you during this crisis, as well as every single day of the year. It’s critical to stay connected to your community during this time, and we are here to help. Email me at Michael.Martin@nwfa.org or call my cell, 314.422.5651, to discuss your ideas for bringing us all together to keep the industry strong during this time.

Best Regards,
Michael Martin
